  • Research on particulate filter simulation and regeneration control strategy

      This paper reports a DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) collection mathematical model for a new regeneration control strategy. The new strategy is composed by main parts, such as regeneration time capturing, temperature rising strategy and regeneration control strategy. In the part of regeneration time capturing, a multi-level regeneration capturing method is put forward based on the combined effect of the PM (Particulate Matter) loading, pressure drop and fuel consumption. The temperature rising strategy proposes the global temperature for all operating conditions. The regeneration control process considers the particle loading density, temperature and oxygen respectively. Based on the analysis of the initial overheating, runaway temperature and local hot spot, the final control strategy is established.

  • Improving designs of CA6DF2 series diesel combustion system

      The technical improvements are made based on the former CA6110 diesel engine to meet the requirements of Euro II emission standards. The performance and emission for CA6DF1 and CA6DF2 all met the demand of design by improving the fuel, combustion and supercharging systems. The injection system adopts high-pressure pump-pipe-injector injection system. To enhance the injection pressure, the methods of augmenting plunger diameter, decreasing the nozzle hole diameter and reducing the inner diameter of the high-pressure fuel pipe are adopted. The design of combustion chamber and the match of inner fuel distributions with air motion are based on a great deal of experimental database and some simple computer-aided methods, which ensure the optimization of performance and provide the guide for experimental development.

  • Emissions of formaldehyde and unburned methanol from a spark-ignition methanol engine during cold start

      The effects of the methanol injection quantity per cycle, the ignition timing, the methanol injection timing, the additional liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) injected into the inlet port, and the LPG injection timing delay relative to the methanol injection timing on the formaldehyde and the unburned methanol emissions from an electronically controlled inlet port methanol injection spark-ignition (SI) engine during cold start were investigated using a single-cycle fuel injection strategy. The results showed that the methanol injection quantity per cycle, the ignition timing, the methanol injection timing, the mass ratio of injected LPG/ methanol, and the LPG injection timing delay relative to the methanol injection timing affect the formaldehyde and the unburned methanol emissions significantly. Optimal control of the methanol injection quantity per cycle, the ignition timing, the methanol injection timing, and the LPG injection timing delay relative to the methanol injection timing improves firing performances and reduces the unburned methanol emission. As the mass ratio of injected LPG/methanol increases, the formaldehyde emission increases and the unburned methanol emission falls. The variations in emitted formaldehyde and unburned methanol show opposite tendencies with the variations in the methanol injection quantity per cycle, the ignition timing, the methanol injection timing, the mass ratio of injected LPG/methanol, and the LPG injection timing delay relative to the methanol injection timing.   • Development of electronically controlled multipoint injection CNG engine

      This paper presents the designs for intake system, combustion system, CNG supply system, ignition system and electronic control system of CNG (compressed natrural gas) engine. Through investigation and application of lean burn technologies, NOx exhaust emission was controlled effectively without using EGR (exhaust gas recirculation). The CNG engine met Euro II (ESC, Euroipean steady cycle) regulation requirement with oxidation catalytic converter. In the meantime, the problem of excessive oil consumption of CNG engine was solved by improving the structures of piston and piston rings. The test results show that CA6SE1-21N CNG engine possesses the rated power of base diesel engine and higher durability.

  • Online fault diagnosis of hybrid electric vehicles based on embedded system

      In this paper, embedded system was used to work for the online fault diagnosis of hybrid electric vehicles (HEV). This system took 32-bit embedded one as a hardware platform, customized a WinCE6.0 operation system and used Embedded Visual C++ (EVC) as the tool to design the embedded application. Through this online diagnosis device, the failure phenomenon, failure causes and failure rules on hybrid electric vehicles were put forward. CAN communication and protocol SAE J1939 were applied in this system. As for the need of Real-timing fault-diagnosis, a new method of layered fault-diagnosis theory and reasoning algorithm which based on event trigger was presented. Meanwhile, the degree of confidence was counted by uncertainty reasoning rules. Testing results show that the online fault diagnosis equipment was very accurate and effective.

  • Effect of combustion chamber shape on CNG engine in-cylinder flow and combustion process

      During the development of the low-emission 4102 CNG natural gas engine, its original combustion chamber and two additionally designed shapes of the combustion chamber, the wedge-shaped and the arc-shaped chambers were modelled and simulated with AVL FIRE code. The effects of the combustion chamber shape on the in-cylinder flow and the combustion process were studied comparatively. The simulation results show that in the engine with the arc-shaped combustion chamber, compared with that with the original combustion chamber, the velocities of the mixture around the spark plug are lower, the initial flame core is steadier, the flame propagation is faster, the combustion duration is shorter, and the maximum combustion pressure is 12.7% higher, all those demonstrate that the arc-shaped combustion chamber is beneficial to improving the natural gas engine performance.

  • Part-load combustion characteristics of a GDI engine

    • 摘要:

      The combustion characteristics were studied by using a 2.0 L GDI engine at medium and low speeds part-load. The effect of intake tumble and injection timing on combustion characteristics was analyzed. The results showed that increasing intake tumble could enhance airflow and combustion velocity at the operation condition of 1000 r/min, 0.1 MPa brake mean efficient pressure (BMEP). However, the advantage of intake tumble reduced when engine speed increased. At operation condition of 3000 r/min, 0.3 MPa BMEP, increasing intake tumble could cause combustion deterioration. The effect of injection timing has greater influence on mixture formation and combustion stability at operation condition of 3000 r/min than operation condition of 2000 r/min, and there is the best injection timing value between 300°CA BTDC and 320°CA BTDC at every operation condition.

  • The design of embedded bus monitoring and fault diagnosis system based on protocol SAE J1939

      Embedded bus monitoring and fault diagnosis system, which was based on protocol SAE J1939 was designed in this paper. And this system took the 32-bit embedded one as a hardware platform, customized a WinCE6.0 operation system and used EVC as the tool to design the embedded application. The functions of CAN communication, protocol defamations etc were realized .Good human-computer interaction is developed and the system has already been applied on the bus.

  • Study on global optimization of Plug-in hybrid electric vehicle energy management strategies

      By using DP which is a kind of global optimization algorithm, an energy management control strategy for a parallel PHEV on different charging depleting range(CDR) had been studied. The results show that motor-dominant control strategy should be applied to the PHEV when CDR is less than 55 km, and engine-dominant control strategy should be used when CDR is more than 55 km. With optimal control strategies from DP, the best economic performance can be obtained as CDR is 55 km; PHEV average equivalence fuel consumption can be reduced to 2.7 L/100 km which is 58% lower than that of prototype vehicle.

  • State of auto hybridization in China

    • 摘要:

      The hybrid vehicle has been rapidly growing in recent years in worldwide. The production and commercialization of hybrid vehicle has begun in some auto industry developed countries such as Japan and US. In our country, the Chinese government has been paying more and more attention to the development of hybrid vehicle since the ninth-five year plan, and many demo hybrid vehicles and components such as motor and battery are developed in recent years. This paper is detailedly proposed the state of auto hybridization in China, including powertrain configuration, battery, and motor technology state and development trend respectively. At the same time, the key issues such as challenges and market prospect are also put forwards in China.
