Biography 个人简介

Shoji Mori is a professor of Mechanical Engineering at Kyushu University. Heearned his Ph.D. from Kyushu University in 2003. After completing his doctoralstudies, he began his academic career as a research associate in the Department ofChemical Engineering at Yokohama National University in 2004. In 2007, he waspromoted to the position of associate professor in the same department.In 2019. he joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering at KyushuJniversity as a professor. His current research interests primarily focus on thedevelopment of innovative thermal systems utilizing porous materials.

Abstract 报告摘要

To achieve significantly higher energy efficiency and contribute to the realizationof a sustainable society, it is crucial to develop new scientific and technologicaladvancements. This can be accomplished by investigating phase interfacephenomena associated with energy conversion and transport, as well as creatinghighly functional phase interfaces.

In this lecture. I will discuss the latest research on the successful integration ofphase change phenomena, such as boiling and evaporation, with porous materials tosignificantly enhance the performance of thermal equipment. Specifically, thefollowing topics will be covered:

1. Enhancemment of critical heat flux of pool boiling using honeycomb porous plate

2. Reduction of Onset Temperature of Nucleate Boiling by a Honeycomb PorousPlate and Heated Fine Wires

3. Rapid Cooling ofHigh-Temperature Bodies utilizing a Honeycomb Porous Plate

4. Rapid Generation of Superheated Steam using Water-Containing Porous Media

5. Improvement of Water Electrolysis Performance through the Analogy between Boiling and Water Electrolysis.
